When I was in school, I often dreamt of visiting foreign countries and having a good time. This was partly inspired by the novels and books I read, which portrayed so many interesting places and such fascinating cultures. But reality being what it was, I could only ever dream of going to these places. My family had never stepped out of our home country and foreign travel was an options that all of us could only imagine. See more ...

The first thing I want to know about Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is what is the deal with the different names credited to the title/concept? I remember when the book first came out, and at the same time do not recall any controversy about who had the idea first, who is collecting the royalties on Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, or who is breaking one of the commandments therein. But today, doing a search for Seven Habits of Highly Effective Peoplewith no author name or punctuation marks or anything, just the six words (the preposition getting booted, of course)I get the title with Franklin Covey and the same title with Stephen R. Covey
. And before I investigate further, I just muse a bit. I know one big, big, big corporation, like MSN or someone (though DO NOT QUOTE ME) purchased the keyword phrase for another corporations product/logo, so when someone does a search, the first result is offered by the one listing the phrase it bought. The idea of online florists might seem odd to you. After all, what is a more personal act than picking out flowers. It is not just a matter of saying I want rose or I want violets. Each flower must be smelled, examined, looked at by itself and in a bouquet. It is strange to many people, myself included that anyone would want to buy flowers online, yet according to a recent study, online florists are doing remarkably well, and the business is growing everyday. Really, it is amazing how highly people rate convenience these days. See more ...

Some of us get squirrely when we learn that a new find address from phone number skill is being tooled, honed, and implemented. We are already quite aware of the Big Brother efforts of governments who, under the guise of security (personal, public, political, governmental, and therefore, national), cross the bounds of privacy. Just the other day in Levine Breaking News, there was an articleor blurbon the well-known activities of a United States government who, soon after 9-1-1, began collecting the phone records of American citizensordinary Americans, that isto reconstruct the history of every phone call made within the country, reports USA Today, as reiterated by LBN e-alert. Besides the odd speculation that the massacre was generated only within the US being silly, the feeling that one is being watched does not bode well for so many of already paranoid folk who understand if one team has the technology (in this case to get a phone record, a phone number, and, if they wish, to find address from phone number, etc.) it is possible and even likely that there will be leaks and cracks in that same technology
turning out to merely empower those they are looking forin the wrong places to begin with. I mean, how many of the billions of phone calls made, and how much of the likely millions of dollars spent to tap those records will originate with suicide bombers, Taliban members/followers, or, as speculation has it, government players? Closer to none, I suspect. See more ...

Australian chat rooms are a great way to meet other single people in Australia If you are living in the land down under and are under thirty, the chances are that you know how hard it can be to meet people over here. The dating scene, except for certain parts of Sydney, is just abysmal. Everything is so spread out, and everyone is so shy until they are on the sauce, that there is just no way to develop meaningful relationships. Or maybe that is just me. But anyway, I am sure that I am not the only one who has had to resort to Australian chat rooms to get dates. Many of you might scoff at the idea, and think that i am nothing but a silly dweeb, but listen up. I have gotten more dates from a year of using Australian chat rooms than I did in the previous three years using more usual methods to meet people. There are so many young Aussies online nowadays, that it is even easier to use Australian chat rooms to meet people than speed dating. I know because I have tried both, and let me tell you, sir. Australian chat rooms are simply the way to go. See more ...

When people ask why people lie, they seldom realize the complexity of the question. My 14 year old nephew asked me why people lie the other day, and although I have almost thirty years experience in forensic psychology, it took all of my resources to answer this question. The truth is, as I told my nephew, that there is no simple reason why people lie, and there isn't even a simple way to say what a lie is. Is an omission a lie? Maybe, maybe not, but if it is, it certainly isn't in the same way that a frank statement against fact is a lie. And is flattering someone, pretending that their dress looks better on them than it does for example, a lie? Before we can really answer the question of why people lie, we must be able to answer these questions, and there are no easy answers. See more ...

There is always so much going on throughout the Internet highway. Folks, big and small, are literally indulging in net-land at all times on any given day. Ten years ago I would have been flabbergasted at the plethora of information found online, but these days it just seems like something that's always been there. I can't imagine going back to life pre-Internet. How would we IM our buddies, or send a quick email to our parents across the country? These little conveniences have become an expected part of our daily routines. It's true that we all take advantage of such technology without a thought in the world. However, we'd be in a state of disarray if it suddenly vanished. I simply love the amount of tasks I can accomplish with my Mac these days. From basic chores such as banking to cool conveniences like ordering Chinese food online. Just the other day, I decided to dabble in people search information. See more ...

Do you keep your house locked up? Hey, I'm not just talking about at night when you're sleeping. I mean at all times. Do you keep a close and watchful eye on your little ones? This is a big one. I honestly believe that you can never be too careful when it comes to your children. Those little tikes can vanish in a heartbeat if you're not watching. We all know to well of the missing people issue in America. It seems to get worse as time moves on. However, there are certain measures that can be taken to help assure that you and your children won't become more victims. See more ...

Many people are leery about meeting people online, since there is still a stigma attached to those who spend time on online personals sites and internet chat rooms; theyre all imagined to be overweight losers, still living in their parents houses, collecting obscure Star Wars memorabilia and munching on Cheetos while they salivate over the possibility of meeting a real, live woman someday. The comic duo of Tom and Jerry are perhaps the best example of a violent, childish cartoon show. Though theyre both cute characters, Jerry especially, with his giant head and mischievous expressions, they get into a lot of trouble. Things generally go worse for Tom than they do for Jerry, and he usually doesnt escape an episode without getting burned, cut, beaten, or mutilated. Though its unlikely that children, after watching an episode of Tom and Jerry, will try and run each other through a meat grinder or something of the sort, its still a pretty violent cartoon. Other childrens television shows like Power Rangers or G.I. Joe are equally violent, though we notice it more with these sorts of shows are the characters arent quite as cute or cartoonish as Tom and Jerry. See more ...
